A bit about our leader

Zoë

 

Zoë Peate trained as a singer at Trinity College of Music where she was awarded the Lady Maud Warrender Prize for outstanding achievements in singing and musicianship. Her extensive concert and recital engagements include appearances at the  Wigmore Hall, the South Bank, Fairfield Hall - Croydon, St John's Smith Square, Jubilee Hall – Aldeburgh, The Dome – Brighton, BBC Radio Sussex, and a highly successful series of concerts in Kuwait for the British Ambassador, the opening of British Trade Week and the Kuwait Chamber Philharmonia.  

Zoë's life now revolves around directing and training choirs. She has conducted the Sixpence Singers, a 30 strong children's choir, Sandgate Singers, a mixed voice chorus from Storrington, and taken part in the West Sussex LEA ‘Sing Out’ project. She was invited to conduct the bi-annual Carol Concert for the West Sussex WI in Chichester Cathedral on two occasions and is preparing for a return visit in December 2009. As Musical Director of the Pulborough & District Gilbert & Sullivan Society she led the company through many productions and a trip to Ireland which resulted in the award for ‘Sheer Entertainment’ at the Waterford Light Opera Competition.  

Zoë is also Musical Director of the Cantatrice ladies choirs and Amici Voices who have performed at Parham House, St Mary's House Bramber, Petworth House, and at many venues in the area. She is Hon. Secretary to the successful Steyning Music Society which promotes professional concerts in the town.
