When Nick Hempleman moved his expanded award winning Sussex Produce Co into larger premises his vision did not immediately stretch to offering evening suppers. However when our local Kaleidoscope Singers wanted to relax and celebrate another great year with performances locally and in Dorking, Horsham and Brighton, it was to him they turned for something exclusive and original. The choir, still exultant following a highly successful workshop the previous Saturday, (which attracted people from all parts of the South East), was totally ready to enjoy the warm welcome – ambience – superb food – and the freedom to break into song between courses.
This was the very first evening event held in the Sussex Produce Co and even though the choir were ‘guinea pigs’ it was all thoroughly delightful. The food was seasonal and all home-made, with a choice of two main courses, followed by a delicious plum crumble or a cheese board (which would probably have satisfied at least 3 people!), followed by tea or coffee.
It was a successful experiment which Nick is willing to repeat – so if there are any other clubs or societies looking for something a little different – maybe for Christmas -with excellent food guaranteed – the recommendation is, book early!
